Admission for Transfer Students
Transfer students are accepted into the University Honors Program (UHP) every fall semester on a space-available basis. Applying for admission requires submitting an online application, including two short essay questions.
Students may apply to UHP before being admitted to the University, but their application will not be reviewed until a University admission decision has been made.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for admission to the University Honors Program (UHP), students transferring to the University of Minnesota must have:
- a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5
- a history of strong performance in major and prerequisite coursework
- at least 60 credits left to complete as of fall 2010
Please note that admission is highly competitive. The mean GPA for fall 2009 non-freshman students admitted to the program was 3.86. Admitted students also showed a strong interest in becoming involved with research.
Application Deadline
Priority deadline for transfer students: March 5, 2010
Full consideration will be given to all complete applications received by the priority deadline. Students will be notified of their admission decision by June 15. Admitted students will be required to meet with their Honors advisor prior to the start of the fall 2010 term.
