Last Weekly News of the Semester

This is the last edition of the Weekly News for the spring 2017 semester; we'll resume with the start of the fall 2017 semester. Good luck on your exams and papers, and have a fantastic summer!

Semester Honors Summary Forms Are Due!

Semester Honors Summary forms are due by the last day of the spring semester. Please submit your forms to the UHP Offices in 390 Northrop as soon as you're able.

Latin Honors Graduates: Thesis and Associated Documents Are Due May 13th

If you are graduating with Latin Honors this spring, your thesis and associated documents are due by the last day of finals—Saturday, May 13th, 2017. Forms should be submitted to the UHP Offices in 390 Northrop. (You may slide your forms under the door if the office is closed.)

This Thursday: 2017 Honors Recognition Ceremony!

The University Honors Program will host our annual Honors Recognition Ceremony this Thursday, May 4th at 7pm in Northrop. If you are completing Latin Honors this spring and have not RSVP'd for the ceremony, there is still time! Use the link found in your email (search "RSVP 2017 Honors Recognition Ceremony") and celebrate with us on Thursday night!

U of MN Press Seeks Student Editorial Assistant

Exam Jam

Exam Jam is just around the corner! This semester's events span the week of April 29 to May 6, kicking off with Saturday morning tutoring at MCAE's Instructional Center, and culminating with a week full of SMART's popular final exam review sessions. New this semester is Sunday afternoon tutoring in SMART Walter on April 30 for select high-demand courses. Details can be found at z.umn.edu/examjam.

This Week: Music on Campus

It's an amazing time of the year for music lovers on campus! Take a brake and take in a concert or recital—there are opportunities in multiple genres and formats all week long!

Tuesday: Mechanical Engineering Senior Design Show

Tuesday, 3:30pm, Coffman Great Hall: Seniors in mechanical engineering and electrical and computer engineering work on real-world, team-based projects while developing an appreciation of design methodology and team dynamics. They also refine their oral and written communications skills. Teams solve an open-ended design problem starting from developing well-defined project requirements/specifications and concluding with a functioning prototype.

Tuesday: David Noble Lecture featuring Roderick Ferguson

Tuesday, 7pm, Cowles Auditorium, HHH: The Department of American Studies presents the 23rd Annual David Noble Lecture featuring Roderick A. Ferguson. Rod's lecture is titled "The Bookshop of the Black Queer Diaspora" and tells the story of how black queer diasporic activists and artists challenged neoliberalism in the nineteen seventies and eighties in North America and the U.K. Lecture at 7pm, reception to follow.

Friday: Graphic Design Senior Show/Exhibition Opens

Friday, HGA Gallery, Rapson Hall: Stop by the HGA Gallery in Ralph Rapson Hall during normal gallery hours and browse through the Graphic Design Senior Show Exhibition beginning this Friday.
