Honors Reporting Center
The Honors Reporting Center is generally intended only for students who began UHP fall 2018 or later. Students who began UHP prior to fall 2018 should typically continue to use the PDFs found on the Shared Google Drive for Honors Legacy Requirements and Forms.
Most Honors Experiences are reported via an associated "WorkflowGen" process. WFG is a paperless tool that allows students, staff, faculty, and other partners to collaborate on the approval process. We encourage you to consult with your Honors Advisor to plan the timing of your Honors Experiences and all associated WFG processes. For detailed information on when and how to report your Honors Experiences, including links to the associated WorkflowGen processes, please see the options below:

Appeal For 5xxx-Level Course to Count as an Honors CourseLaunch the WorkflowGen process before the semester in which you take the course begins. The course instructor will indicate whether or not this course will count as an Honors course (it needs to be a course not routinely taken by undergraduates in the major). If approved, it will count as an Honors course should you receive a passing grade.
Community-Engaged WorkSign up for and attend the intake information session/workshop offered for Honors students by the Center for Community-Engaged Learning (CCEL). Complete your experience and all the CCEL module work, and then launch the WorkflowGen process for Mentor-Supervised Activities by the last day of the semester in which you completed the experience. Please list Basanti Miller of CCEL (firstname.lastname@example.org) as the mentor supervisor on your WorkflowGen.
Course Add-OnApproach the course instructor(s) before the end of the first week of classes to ask if they are willing to do a course add-on. If so, ask the instructor(s) to complete one of the following 1) an augmented syllabus clearly showing the extra work and meetings above-and-beyond those required by the normal course; 2) a detailed description of the semester-long project, including internal deadlines for drafts or sections, and meeting dates to discuss progress; or 3) a description of the research you will be doing alongside the faculty member, and how it is related to the course. Collect these materials and launch the WorkflowGen process. by the end of the fourth week of classes. If you fail to include satisfactory description of additional meetings with the faculty instructor, your process will be returned to you for additional information. Note, you are not able to do a course add-on for a course that already has an Honors version in the course catalog. In that case, you should simply enroll in the Honors version of the course.
Honors NEXUS ExperiencesBeginning Fall 2020, we are no longer using a Workflow to report completion of NEXUS experiences. A non-course experience will be automatically added to your UHP APAS within a month of completing a NEXUS experience. If you have questions or concerns regarding credit for a NEXUS experience, please contact Samantha Hahn.
Learning AbroadBefore leaving on your trip, enroll in OLPD 3331H, a 1-credit course offered fall, spring, and summer. Your enrollment in this course should overlap with your time abroad, but the course proper may start before you leave. Once you successfully pass the course, you will be granted a non-course Honors Experience; there is no need to launch a WorkflowGen process. Note that this course may be repeated for multiple non-course Honors experiences, but you must travel to a different location each time you enroll. Note: Permission is required to register for OLPD 3331H. Please contact your Learning Abroad coordinator for details and additional information.
Mentor-Supervised Independent ActivityBefore you begin this activity, approach your mentor and make sure that all details of your activity have been agreed upon in writing, and that they amount to 45 hours (or more) of student input and meet the requirements spelled out in the current Honors requirements document. You will need to submit all of these details later! Once the activity is complete, but before the last day of the semester, launch the WorkflowGen process. The Workflow will prompt your mentor to confirm that you met expectations. Students may complete more than one mentor-supervised independent activity for non-course Honors experiences, but each must be clearly different in nature, such that the growth opportunity is evident each time.
More About Mentor-Supervised Independent ActivitiesMentor-supervised non-course Honors experiences can take a variety of forms, including research, internships, and independent study. Some—but hardly all—of these options appear in the Honors Requirements document. If the proposed experience is a major or collegiate requirement, students wishing to count these as Honors Experiences must demonstrate the extraordinary nature of their experience that would go above and beyond what is typically done by non-Honors students completing the same major/collegiate requirement. At a minimum, UHP expects these experiences to provide significant growth opportunities of 45 or more hours in one or more of the following ways:
- Academic: Interacting with and/or creating knowledge in an academic discipline under the guidance of a mentor with an appropriate graduate-level degree or credential from an accredited institution; should not duplicate topics or formats already available to undergraduates in existing coursework students have access to during their undergraduate degree
- Professional: Directly related to student's career goals after graduation in a way that provides opportunities for growth and development; should go beyond a typical student campus or summer job
- Personal: Directly related to student's sense of personal growth and development in a way that will provide long-term benefits to their sense of identity and life goals; should not be able to be reported under another non-course experience category (e.g., community engagement or internship)
Presentation or PublicationLaunch the WorkflowGen process after making your presentation or having your work accepted for publication at/in a professional venue, but before the last day of the semester. The Honors Faculty Representative for your department will be asked to verify that your activity goes beyond the norm for non-Honors students in your major, and that your work rises to an appropriate level.
Thesis ProposalPlease consult the Important Dates and Deadlines section of our Thesis Guide for detailed, term-specific deadlines. Once you have identified a faculty advisor for your thesis, and have enough of an idea of the thesis work to submit a working title and brief description, launch the workflow. Note that you do not need to have other committee members identified at this time. You should launch the WorkflowGen process no later than the semester before the semester you intend to graduate if you are doing solo-authored work or a year before the semester you intend to graduate if you are doing a group project or co-authored thesis. The Honors Requirements document has detailed information on the different timelines for solo and co-authored theses.
