Capstone Considerations

All majors, including Honors students, are required to complete an advanced geologic field course, which acts as a capstone project. Students may choose between two courses regularly offered each summer (ESCI 4911 Advanced Field Geology or ESCI 4971W Field Hydrogeology). Honors students complete a thesis above and beyond these requirements.

Thesis Requirements

Students give a public presentation that the committee attends. This presentation could occur as part of a research symposium on campus, or it could be organized for the committee within the department, or even as part of our existing weekly "Hard Rock" or "Soft Rock" seminar series.
