Major Requirements for Students Pursuing Latin Honors
None, unless required as a pre-requisite for a collegiate or departmental classroom thesis course.
HCOL 3101H or 3102H, or thesis course in the department in which the thesis advisor sits.
The Honors thesis will fulfill all IDIM capstone requirements, but in many cases students will be counseled to take the capstone course in the department in which their thesis advisor sits.
Students should begin to explore their thesis ideas in fall of their Junior year to identify an appropriate department and pathway for their thesis. They may either complete a thesis project in line with the requirements and coursework of the academic department in which their thesis advisor sits, or they may work with their faculty thesis advisor and BIS/IDIM Honors Faculty Representative to modify those requirements in line with their interest. In the latter case, the student should plan to take HCOL 3101H or 3102H as their thesis supporting course.
Summa cum laude requirements will be determined either by departmental requirements, or by the faculty thesis advisor and BIS/IDIM HFR.
