Luce Scholars Program

For one-year internships in Asia. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, not more than 29 years old, and hold a bachelor's degree by the beginning of the award. SENIORS, GRADUATES, and GRADUATE STUDENTS may apply. Not intended for students whose academic concentration is in any aspect of Asian studies, or who have lived in Asia more than 18 weeks. Luce Scholars receive a generous living stipend and internship placement. 15-18 awards nationwide to candidates from select institutions, including the U of M-Twin Cities. Institutional endorsement is required.


This scholarship requires a nomination from the University of Minnesota in order to apply at the national or international level. The Office for National and International Scholarships organizes the nomination process, consults with all interested students on assembling competitive applications, works with nominees to prepare for all stages of national competition, and publicizes results.
