NURS 4404V takes the place of NURS 4777W, the senior-project course for non-Honors student.
Theses must adhere to the "Elements of a Thesis" guide provided in NURS4205V and NURS4404V. Summa cum laude theses must include all required elements of a thesis and earn ratings of "5" on at least three of four scholarly writing criteria (e.g., logic, literacy, completeness, and accuracy), as rated by two School of Nursing faculty members (e.g., the BSN honors committee chair and an instructor for N4205V or N4404V). Students wishing to pursue summa level theses should contact the BSN Honors Committee chair, Barb McMorris, by April 1 to request review of their thesis.
All students will choose a thesis committee comprising at least three members, a thesis advisor and two additional reviewers. Students are responsible for identifying a thesis advisor who will agree to supervise their thesis prior to submitting their thesis proposal. At least one member—not necessarily the thesis advisor—must be tenured or tenure-track faculty at the University of Minnesota, and at least one member must be affiliated with the department in which the thesis is conducted.
