Capstone Considerations

All students in the major, including Honors students, must complete the two-semester Senior Design I and II sequence.

Thesis Requirements

For summa cum laude only, the student must do an oral presentation and defense of the thesis for the advisor and the two readers. The oral presentation (~30 minutes in length) is followed by a Q&A session (~30 minutes in length).

Committee Composition

All theses must be approved by a three member committee. At least one committee member (not necessarily the advisor) must be a tenure-track faculty member at the University of Minnesota, and at least one must be affiliated with the department in which the thesis is conducted.
