Thesis Requirements

A summa thesis must comprise an original research project with a public presentation, whereas cum laude or magna cum laude theses require only a systematic literature review with no public presentation. The summa thesis also has increased evaluation expectations. Please see the document titled Guidelines and FAQs for Kinesiology Students in the University Honors Program for additional information and answers to frequently asked questions. You will also find thesis-specific details in the School of Kinesiology's departmental Honors Thesis Evaluation Form.

Committee Composition

All theses must be approved by a three member committee. At least one committee member (not necessarily the advisor) must be a tenure-track faculty member at the University of Minnesota, and at least one must be affiliated with the department in which the thesis is conducted.
