Capstone Considerations

The PHSL 3062W capstone project is at present a 1-semester, 1-credit research experience. Because the Honors thesis experience is expected to be a more detailed review of the research question supported by lab data measured by the student, all Honors students take this course and must also enroll in PHSL4094 to support the additional work going into the thesis.

Thesis Requirements

Summa students must enroll in PHSL 4094 for two semesters (4 credits, preferably 2 credits per semester), whereas magna and cum laude students need only enroll for 3 credits either all taken in one semester or across 2 semesters. Summa cum laude theses must be based on original research, whereas cum and magna theses may be based on independent research or take the form of a literature review.
