Thesis Proposal

Once you have identified a faculty advisor for your thesis, and have enough of an idea of the thesis work to submit a working title and brief description, launch the digital form below.

Note that you do not need to have other committee members identified at this time. The only exception is for students who are intending to submit an interdisciplinary thesis to count for two different degrees (i.e. B.A. and B.S.). An interdisciplinary thesis proposal must have two faculty thesis advisor co-chairs, one for each of the student’s departments.

The digital form should be submitted no later than the semester before the semester you intend to graduate if you are doing solo-authored work or a year before the semester you intend to graduate if you are doing a group project or co-authored thesis. See the Honors Thesis webpage for more information on deadlines and requirements.

Thesis Proposal Submission Form

A decision request form will be sent to your faculty thesis advisor (or both advisor co-chairs for interdisciplinary theses) to review your proposal and indicate whether they agree to supervise your proposal. Any additional readers listed (if known at this time), the Honors Faculty Representative(s), and your Honors advisor(s) will be notified of an approval decision.

Requests that have had no response from the faculty thesis advisor(s) after 60 days will be canceled due to inactivity.
