Yalile Suriel

Hello! I’m Professor Yalile Suriel. I teach courses on the history of policing and surveillance, the legacies of student activism, and the 1960s civil rights movement. I’m interested in questions of power, politics, and justice in our society. My research looks at how the history of policing intersects with the history of student activism. I’m currently working on two books and developing a bunch of courses that I hope will appeal to you all during your time here at the U. I’m super excited to get to know you all-- whether that be through my course on the history of student activism or through one of the many activities in which our paths will cross. I urge you all to be curious and to explore everything that the university has to offer.
