National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship

For up to three years of graduate study at a U.S. institution leading to a research-based master's or doctoral degree in mathematics, science, engineering, social science, history/philosophy of science, or STEM education. Includes $34,000 annual stipend, a $12,000 annual cost of education allowance, and access to professional development resources. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident and must be enrolled at a US graduate institution in fall. SENIORS, recent GRADUATES, and first-year GRADUATE STUDENTS may apply. Approximately 2700 are awarded nationally.

This scholarship does not require a nomination from the University of Minnesota. The Office for National and International Scholarships consults with interested students on assembling competitive applications and on composing the personal statement, but competitive applicants will receive the most beneficial support from their research mentors.
